Traditional owners in Jabiru are calling for a government investigation after a vehicle was taken  from the Ranger Uranium Mine and left in a public area.

NEWSREADER:                      A group of traditional owners in Jabiru is calling for a government investigation after a vehicle was taken from the Ranger Uranium Mine and left in a public area. Energy Resources of Australia has confirmed the vehicle was taken off its mine near Kakadu National Park on Sunday without authorisation. ERA says police are investigating the incident.

The Gundjehmi Aboriginal Corporation has raised fears about the possibility of radioactive contamination within the community. The Corporation's Justin O'Brien says the incident casts doubt on the company's plans to develop a new underground mine at the site.

JUSTIN O'BRIEN:                   It doesn't augur well for any future mining negotiations. The mining companies simply have to lift its game. Rio Tinto international reputation is at stake if it can't fix this problem here.
