ABC Radio News Uranium drums found at Noonamah

NEWSREADER: A group representing traditional owners in Kakadu National Park says four drums of the type used at the Ranger uranium mine have been found in Darwin's rural area. Justin O'Brien from Gundjeihmi Aboriginal Corporation says the mine's operator, Energy Resources of Australia, notified the group about the drums. ERA has confirmed it collected the drums from bush land near Noonamah on Monday. It says the territory's health department has inspected the site and the drums and no radioactive material has been detected. Mr O'Brien says he's concerned about safety controls at Ranger after a security breach involving a car that left the mine earlier this month.
